from what is seen of him, MAN is made of matter that comprise his body. this is the philosophy of manism. the reality of man in this sense means that when he or she dies, it is all over. the belief in dualism conotes that man is body and spirit. the body is nothing but matter. however, without body, the spirit cannot have real wordly existence. human perception ascribes realtiy to the body and soul of man.
the question is, if man is matter in entirety, how come he thinks and reasons? rationality is a minfestation of the spirit. the issue is part of the continuing debate on the nature of man.
the rational nature of man makes him uniquely different from other creatures. his rationality is inherent in his biological make up and its refinement is thru the behavioral formation that he has undergone. man learns to reason by himself and also improves with others. man is endowed with a learning behavior which he uses unless he is mentally impaired.
man is born good.he is a product of nature.if reared to be good, he acquires the way of the good. evil in man's behavior is acquired thru contact with evil. there are those who believe, however, that Man is born withoriginal sin. sin is evil.
whether man is originally evil or born naturally good, any departure that their behavior may have in society can be remedied. man's nature can be changed because of adaptability to social norms among people. education is the means to change man thru his own effort and with the management of his change by others. social delinquence can be guided to accept societal norms.
